Frequently Asked Questions about cremation urns:

01 How do I know what size of urn I will need?

The best guide to decide this: One pound of weight is about the same as one cubic inch of cremated remains. So if your loved one weighed 187 lbs. you will need an urn of the size of 187 cubic inches.
You can find the cubic inches of every urn in the description of the urns in the “Photo gallery” (just below the picture you selected).
If you don’t know the exact weight, and you do want to keep all of the ashes together, then it’s safest to go for the full size version.
02

.

I prefer to keep only a part of the ashes. Is it possible to scatter part of the ashes, and to choose a smaller urn?

Yes, it is possible to scatter a part of the ashes and keep the remaining amount in a smaller urn.   “Phoenix Urns®” has many different sizes available, from mini urn / keepsake to full size urn.
03 What is a “keepsake” ?

A “keepsake” is a very small urn, used for holding just a little bit of ashes (sometimes also used for holding a lock of hair, a ring or any other memorial object)
04 Can “Phoenix Urns®” add an inscription to the urn?

Yes, that is possible. Our painter artist can paint any inscription you like on the urn. A name, dates, a poem etc. In any colour you like, and you can decide yourself where the inscription should be painted (at the front, at the back, at the top or at the bottom of the decoration etc.)
05 Is it possible to let your painter artist create a special decoration for us?

Absolutely. We can create any special decoration you like. Contact us for more information
06 How can I order a cremation urn from “Phoenix Urns®”?

Visit the “Photo Gallery” and when you made your choice, write down the name of the urn decoration that you want to order, and the type of urn (including the order number). Then go to the page “How to order”, and fill in the “Ïnformation Form / Order Form”. We will contact you by e-mail and inform you about the total cost price. Only then you decide wether you want to go ahead with your order or not.
07 Can you assist me in the ordering process?

Yes, of course. Please go to our “Contact” page, and fill in the “Contact Form”, and send us your message. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible
08 What do I have to do to arrange payment of my order?

Safe payment of your order can be arranged via the website of “Paypal”, using your own bank account or credit card. When you confirm your order, we send you a “Paypal payment invitation”
09 When can I expect my order?

Every urn that a family orders is created in our own studio after we receive the order confirmation. Because our urns are all hand painted by our painter artist Michael van de Sande personally, delivery will take about 6 weeks from date of ordering.
10 Do you ship outside Europe? And what are the shipping costs to the USA?

Yes, we ship our “Phoenix Urns®” world wide including USA, Canada etc. The shipping costs are included in the cost price (see our price list).
11 Can I fill the urn myself, or is this very difficult?

Yes it is possible to do it yourself. You can have a look at the “Instruction Video” on the home page about filling and closing an urn. But you can also ask someone at the Crematorium or at the Funeral Home to do this for you. They definitely have experience in doing this.
12 I don’t want to fill the urn myself. Can someone else do this for me?

If you prefer we can ship the cremation urn directly to the Crematorium or Funeral Home. You can ask them to fill the urn for you. An other option is to ask a family member to do this for you. But please note: At the Crematorium and Funeral Home they usually have a lot of experience in doing this, so we would advise to ask them to do it for you. Of course we can also send the urn to your home address, and you can bring it over to the Crematorium / Funeral Home yourself.

.

I want to place the urn outdoors in my garden. Are your cremation urns suitable for this, or do I need a special type of urn?

If you intend to place the cremation urn outside, in your garden or in a “weather-exposed” columbarium, you will need an urn that is “weather and frost resistant”. “Phoenix Urns®” also offers this type of urn. This urn is created from “stoneware clay” and is fired at a much higher temperature. This way no moisture or frost can damage the urn. Tell us if you want to order this type of urn.
14 Does “Phoenix Urns®” offer a warrantee on their product?

“Phoenix Urns®” guarantees all of it’s products from defects in workmanship. Together with the urn we will send you the “Phoenix Urns® Certificate of Authenticity” that guarantees that you purchased a product from our studio with a completely hand painted decoration.
